Plywood is basically a combination of multiple thin veneer sheets of wood. Birch plywood is basically characterized by smooth color and texture. Birch ply is usually layered; which is common knowledge in the lumber industry. Birch plywood is primarily used in a wide variety of home improvement and smaller construction projects. It is smooth on the surface and does not have any splinters or jagged edges. This kind of veneered plywood is usually used in construction of furniture such as cabinets, desks, shelves or children furniture.
Its thickness ranges from 3 mm to 36 mm. Birch plywood comes in a variety of sizes unlike other lumbers. Birch plywood is reasonably priced, very durably and is commonly available everywhere. Birch plywood generally goes into the construction of doghouses or dollhouses that are quite popular amongst kids.
Birch plywood comes in a treated and untreated variety. Sandpaper can be applied on one side or both sides depending on the customer’s requirement. It generally is smooth so sanding may not be necessary in most cases. Some applications may need a smoother texture so that is when a little bit of work has to be done. It can also be made in such a way that the exteriors are waterproof and the interiors are water resistant.
Birch plywood is generally misconstrued as one piece
of wood. But that is not the case. It is made up of multiple layers of birch veneer. These layers determine the thickness of the plywood. Sometimes it might just be the case that about 25 veneer sheets are glued together with a high quality glue or resin. The veneer sheet can be made of a number of birch varieties such as Jacquemonti birch, canoe birch, heritage river birch, yellow birch, whitebarked Himalayan birch or European birch. The place where Birchwood is found in plenty is Russia, Finland, Baltics, Estonia and Lativia. Europe is famous for its supply capacity.
Birch plywood is also used as industrial material. The turbine blades of windmills are made out of this plywood. The boxes of Liquefied natural gas are made out of birch plywood. It is commonly seen as signboards and road signs. Owing to its smooth texture, musical instruments are also made out of them. They are popularly used in sports material too. The smooth surface, accurate thickness and its durability make them a favorite material for special products.
Other features of birch plywood include a resistance to humidity. It is also very easy to reprocess it and very easy to handle. In some types of birch faced plywood the panel surface can be altered or improved depending on its application. It is important to have the accurate weight to strength ratio. They are also light weight which makes them the automatic favorite for home appliances.
